Tye Baptist Church

OUR STAFF:

Pastor:  Rev. Ben Richardson is our pastor, but most people call him Pastor Ben or Bro. Ben.  Born in Amory, Mississippi, he received a BA from Southwest Baptist College and  a Masters of Divinity from Golden Gate Baptist Seminary.  He served as a "missionary to the military"--- an Army Chaplain, for almost 21 years.  After the Army he pastored in Clay, Kentucky for 5 years and became our pastor in June 2010.  Pastor Ben has a real passion for reaching our community for Christ and we look forward to our future together. 

 Music Minister:  Don Scargall has been our music minister since November, 2006.  He is a graduate of Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas and a retired music teacher for Abilene Independent School District.  His wife, Ann, is also a retired teacher for AISD.

 

 

Youth Minister:  John Thompson is our youth minister.  He and his wife, Becky, and their daughter, Hannah recently moved here from Fort Worth, where John was in school at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  John was raised in a missionary home in Ecuador and is excited to be leading our ministry to the Junior and Senior High Youth of our community.

 

Church Secretary:  Mary Boone has been our church and financial secretary since 2002.  She and husband Jack, are local cotton and wheat farmers.  She has an extensive background as a church secretary and working in local agricultural offices.

 

 

 

Church Custodian:  Nancy Moore has been the church custodian for several years.  She is also a hair stylest and has served the city in different capacities.

 

 

OUR BELIEFS:

We believe the Bible is the true Word of God.  We also believe that Jesus is God with us, the Holy Spirit is God in us, while He never ceases being God over us.  All of our beliefs can be found in the 1963 and 2000 Baptist Faith and Message.                             

OUR TOWN:

Tye is a town with approximately 1200 people located on the northwest edge of Abilene, Texas.  We are north of Dyess Air Force base which houses the B-1 bombers and C-130's.  We are six miles from downtown Abilene.  We are part of the Merkel ISD and have the Tye Elementary School which teaches Head Start through fifth grade.  We are situated along and mostly south of I-20.
